Really great news in recent days. One of the companies I work for as a consultant, Double First, has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2016.
Double First creates management information software and finance software for independent and international schools. I joined the company full time in 2008 as a director, just as it was making its first steps into export, so this is a real closing of the circle. Now more than half of its activity is overseas.
It’s been a whole team effort to win the award, so due credit to everyone at Double First for this stunning achievement. Export growth of over 60% in the past three years makes a very compelling story,
I was called in at relatively short notice to create the entry, which involved a huge amount of work getting the right facts together and ensuring we told our story well. I’d been fortunate in terms of meeting some other winners in the past, so knew what to expect. The initial entry probably took around 20 hours all up but from that we also have some great base material to use for other publicity purposes.
Having won we wanted to make sure the world knew when the embargo came off this week. We appointed Somerset-based ADPR to handle media relations and social media. With classic bad timing I was in New York all week, but thanks to great hotel WiFi, and ignoring the timezone a little, was able to co-ordinate all the required bits on UK hours, then switch to US time for a welcome bit of downtime,
